Photo Coaster – Silverback Gorilla
One of our selection of Photo Coasters featuring a selection of wild birds and animals. All photos taken by me in various countries around the world. Each coaster measures 4″ by 4″ and are heat resistant. Also available as a Photo Placemat, see my other products.
Gorillas are ground-dwelling, predominantly herbivorous apes that inhabit the forest of central Sub-Saharan Africa. The genus Gorilla is divided into two species: the eastern gorillas and the western gorillas, and either four or five subspecies. They are the largest living primates.
Adult male gorillas are known as silverbacks due to the characteristic silver hair on their backs reaching to the hips.
I took this picture in 2019 at the Jewrsey Zoo on the Island of Jersey. The Gorilla enclosure is very well designed allowing you to get up close and take pictures without any glass in the way, reducing glare.
